Hit by a car and dragging her back legs. Multiple pelvic fractures — she needs surgery to walk again.
A family found her on the street in Puebla, Mexico, after she was hit by a car. She could not use her back legs and was dragging herself along the ground in pain. They took her in, fed her, and gave her somewhere safe to sleep.
The next day, with help from a local rescuer, she was taken to a veterinary clinic for X-rays and tests. They showed multiple fractures around her hip and pelvis. The vet's verdict was a hopeful one: treated in time, she has an excellent chance of a full recovery and of walking again.
The surgery and the tests already done come to roughly MXN $15,000, before medication, transport or follow-up care. Her rescuers are paying what they can upfront so she does not have to wait, and are raising the rest. Until she recovers, she is staying with the family who found her, who will look for a permanent home for her afterwards.
Her rescuers have not named her yet — we're calling her Puebla, after the city she was found in.
