Blue was rescued after being abandoned at the side of the road in the family's neighbourhood. Since then he has become a huge part of it.
He got his leg caught in a fence, and the break was bad enough that surgery has already been scheduled. The procedure costs $5,000, which landed on the family with no warning.
His owner's sister is raising the money so the surgery can go ahead as planned.
